R&B

Naturi NaughtonNaturi Naughton has officially made an impact on the charts as a solo act.

Naughton, previously known as 1/3 of the hit group 3LW, makes an imprint on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks "Fame 2009".

Taken from the soundtrack of the forthcoming film 'Fame,' Naughton's "Fame 2009" debuts at no.48 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart, just months after her big screen debut in 'Notorious' (as Lil Kim).

Naughton's success with the song, a cover of Irene Cara's 1980 classic, could lead to top 10 charting success, much like Cara's version that peaked at no.4.

'Fame' opens in theaters September 25.

So R&B reality shows seem to be in vogue right now. We’ve previously mentioned Ray J’s search for love, and then Chilli’s search for love, and then Tiny and Toya’s search for… meaning in their life? Well, now we’ve got further additions from R&B singers including shows featuring Monica, Fantasia and Kandi Burruss.

What will these shows be about?

First, Monica will be on a show on BET where she introduces the world to her music/recording process, as well as to her family life.

Fantasia Barrino, well acquainted with reality television after her appearance on the show American Idol, will be returning in 2010 with her own VH1 reality series in which she allows viewers into her personal life.

Kandi Burruss of Xscape is following in Tiny’s footsteps, appearing in the BRAVO series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Honestly, I find all these reality shows kind of silly. If these artists want to let people into their personal lives, maybe we can make an MTV Cribs spin off. In the new series, called MTV Life, R&B singers will give camera crews a tour of their life. That way, we don’t need full series, just hour episodes of each singer haha.

Five Years After Its Release, Usher e-mailed MTV News with little-known-facts about his classic album.

Last week, during our series focusing on the music and the scene in Atlanta, MTV News' Shaheem Reid wrote a blog observing the fifth anniversary of the release of Usher's landmark, multimillion-selling Confessions album, about which he said: "Listening to the music, on which Ush sang about everything in his relationship, I knew I would hear — hell, the world would hear — something different this time. He was already a star, but with this joint, you had the feeling it was going to be different. Usher would be talking about realer things that older cats could also relate to."

Victims-rights movement gaining support following leaked photo of battered singer.

Spurred by the outrage over the leaked photo of a battered Rihanna following her alleged beating at the hands of boyfriend Chris Brown, a movement is taking root in Los Angeles to pass a so-called "Rihanna's Law" against releasing photos or information that exploits victims of crimes.

The Los Angeles Times reports that support for the law has been gaining traction ever since the Los Angeles Police Department announced that it was investigating the leak and possible sale of photos of Rihanna with a bruised and battered face to the Web site TMZ after those images had been entered into evidence. TMZ has claimed it obtained the photo legally but has not said how it came into possession of the image. Among the groups reportedly supporting the creation of the law is STOParazzi, the self-proclaimed Celebrity Rights Advocacy Group that has also weighed in on the airport scuffle that recently resulted in Kanye West being hit with three misdemeanor charges.
